At the last AWT General Meeting in 2024, deserving AWT members were once again honored.
Dipl.-Ing. Rainer Braun and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Sommer were awarded the AWT badge of honor for their commitment to many AWT committees. The laudatory speech for Mr. Braun was held by Prof.
Dr.-Ing. In his laudatory speech, he emphasized Mr. Braun's extraordinary commitment in the AWT technical committees, project-accompanying committees, on the AWT Board, most recently on the Executive Board and in the strategy process of recent years, where Mr. Braun headed the Technology Orientation working group. The laudatory speech for Prof. Peter Sommer was delivered by Prof. Franz Hoffmann. He praised the in-depth knowledge of materials science that Mr. Sommer has contributed to the work of the Technical Committee and his commitment to the Board of Directors.
The Pauliebensahm Prizes for the best presentations by young scientists were also awarded during the congress. There were two winners this year: Marcel Hesselmann from the Leibniz Institute for Materials-Oriented Technologies received the prize for the best presentation by a young scientist at Steel Innovation 2023 and Jonathan Wörner from Bosch gave the best presentation at the hardening congress
2023. Both winners can look forward to prize money of 2000 euros.
The Karl Wilhelm Burgdorf Prize, donated by the Burgdorf company, was awarded at the festive reception of the HärtereiKongress. The prize, endowed with 5000 euros, went to Dr. Pavel Stolař for his contribution to putting scientific findings into practice.
