  • AWT honorary chairmanship for outstanding commitment of former chairmen
  • Pauliebensahm Prize for the best young speaker at the Hardening Congress. Prize money 2.000,- EUR
  • Karl Wilhelm Burgdorf Prize (donated by the company Burgdorf GmbH & Co. KG for merits in putting scientific ideas into practice. Prize money 5.000,- EUR

Prizes and honors

At the last AWT General Meeting in 2023, deserving AWT members were once again honored.

Dr. Heinrich Klümper-Westkamp and Manfred Oswald were awarded the AWT badge of honour for their commitment to many AWT committees. Mr. Klümper-Westkamp has worked on many technical committees and was responsible for the AWT seminar concept for many years. Mr. Oswald worked for many years as the head of the Lake Constance hardening shop and made a significant contribution to the development of this location.

The Karl Wilhelm Burgdorf Prize, worth 5,000 euros, for services to putting scientific findings into practice, was awarded to Mr. Joachim G. Wünning was awarded.

Hans-Werner Zoch received a special award in 2022: he was made an honorary member of the AWT for his extraordinary services to the AWT and the Leibniz Institute for Materials-Oriented Technologies in Bremen.

The Paul-Riebensahm-Prize for the best junior lecture at the HK 2022 went to Dr. Nicole Mensching from Leibniz-IWT Bremen. The award ceremony took place at the HK 2023.
